Alan Turing

A British mathematician and logician, he cracked the Nazi Enigma code at Bletchley Park and laid the theoretical foundations of computing (Turing Machine, Turing Test). Prosecuted for homosexuality in 1952, chemically castrated, he died in 1954; posthumously pardoned in 2013.
